Allgemeines
Die Rotrücken-Zimtelfe (Selasphorus rufus) ist eine der meistverbreitetsten Kolibris in Nordamerika. Diese Art erreicht eine Körperlänge von 8 cm und eine Flügelspannweite von 10 cm. Die Rotrücken-Zimtelfe zieht 2000 Meilen von Alaska bis nach Südmexiko und hat damit den längsten Wanderweg aller in den USA beheimateten Kolibriarten. Gemessen an ihrer Körpergröße schafft sie damit den längsten Vogelzug weltweit.
The Rufous Hummingbird (Selasphorus rufus) is one of the most widespread hummingbirds in North America. The average is 8 cm (3 inches) in length and has a wingspan of 10 cm (4 inches). The Rufous Hummingbird has the longest migration route of any hummingbirds that occur in the United States - potentially traveling over 2,000 miles from Alaska to southern Mexico and back. In fact, they make the longest bird migration on earth, as measured in body lengths.
